Rotterdam Ahoy has a long-standing commitment to sustainability, deeply rooted in its history. The venue focuses on smart and sustainable energy management, including investments in 5,442 solar panels (supplying 25% of electricity needs), heat and cold storage, and a gas-free climate control system. It also features a moss sedum roof (1,713 m²) for natural insulation and a sustainable urban water buffer system that reuses 20,000 cubic metres of rainwater for cleaning. Social sustainability is emphasized through creating an open, safe, and accessible environment for all. The venue aims for circularity in waste management, promotes eco-friendly transport, and collaborates with partners and local communities on sustainable initiatives. It also hosts sustainability conferences.
