Sustainability
Stonewall Resort participates in the Audubon Green Leaf Eco-Rating Program and the Arnold Palmer Signature Course is certified in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. Initiatives include recycling cardboard and aluminum, using recycled paper notepads with soy ink, glassware instead of plastic for breaks, regional collection for plastic pesticide containers, recycling collection points throughout the park, aluminum collection at campsites, Salvajor dish rinse equipment, energy-efficient domestic hot water boilers, digital thermostats on HVAC units, timers on exterior and non-essential room lighting, high-efficiency heat pumps, energy recovery ventilators, green cards in guest rooms for linen/towel conservation, and solar-powered lighting for the Lightburn's entrance sign.

Stonewall Resort is a joint private/public development between MHLP, Inc. and the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. Federal legislation in 1995, developed by Sen. Robert C. Byrd, erased state debt for construction within the state park, making it a national model for public/private development. The Stonewall State Park Foundation also works to ensure the viability and future development of Stonewall Resort State Park.
