The venue was built for sustainability, aiming for low-carbon operations and savings on land, energy, water, and materials. It features the world's largest rainwater collection system in a single-block building. Sustainability efforts include optimization of the fencing system, HVAC system, and lighting and facility system, resulting in significantly lower energy consumption per square meter compared to similar buildings. The Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center is a major project invested by the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The city offers incentives for the exhibition industry, including a one-off 5 million yuan (approximately $718,484 USD) for newly introduced exhibition projects ranking among the world's top 100. A 3 million yuan incentive is available for national top 100 exhibition projects, and 1.5 million yuan for international conferences. Recurrent international conferences can receive up to 1 million yuan per session, provided they meet criteria such as participation from at least five countries/regions/international organizations and a minimum of 100 participants with at least 20% overseas attendees.
