Bellagio practices environmental stewardship through robust programs focusing on Energy, Water, and Materials & Waste. Key initiatives include an extensive material diversion program, comprehensive recycling (paper, plastic, metal), food waste diversion to pig farms, grease to biofuels, and donations to charities. Water conservation efforts include using non-drinkable well water for the Fountains of Bellagio and 'O' by Cirque du Soleil, an upgraded water treatment system saving 24 million gallons annually, and a towel/linen reuse program saving 15.5 million gallons. Energy efficiency is driven by LED lighting, smart building technologies, and the use of renewable energy from MGM Resorts' 100MW Mega Solar Array.
