The resort is a sustainability leader, having achieved Audubon International Green Lodging/Green Hospitality Gold-level Certification. Key initiatives include operating a 1,250,000-gallon-per-day reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant since 2004, and a wastewater recycling plant producing 500,000 gallons daily to irrigate the golf course. Other practices include a move to eliminate all plastic containers by the end of 2025, regular energy assessments, collection of wet kitchen waste by local farmers for animal feed, use of water stations and biodegradable cups in meeting spaces, water bottle refill stations, bulk condiment dispensers, energy reclamation systems for HVAC, automated HVAC and individual temperature controls in meeting rooms, hotel-wide LED lighting, use of recycled paper, towel and linen re-use programs (with Marriott Rewards incentives), water-saving shower heads, toilets, and faucets, in-room recycling bins, and green-certified cleaning products.
