About this Venue
Spaladium Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Split, Croatia, opened in December 2008. Designed by the architectural studio 3LHD, it was built as the centerpiece of the Spaladium Centar complex. The arena primarily hosts handball and basketball competitions, alongside concerts, conventions, trade fairs, and exhibitions. It has a flexible seating capacity, reaching up to 15,000 for concerts. The broader complex includes a wellness center, a sky bar, an exclusive rooftop restaurant, and an adjacent shopping mall. The venue has faced financial challenges and intermittent closures throughout its history, with the City of Split taking over ownership in early 2026.

Subvention & Funding Support
The Spaladium Arena was initially developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model involving the City of Split and SPORTSKI GRAD TPN Ltd. The project faced significant financial disputes and intermittent closures due to unpaid debts and maintenance costs. In February/March 2026, the City of Split officially acquired ownership of the arena, after previously purchasing bank receivables, for an agreed amount of 5 million euros (or a symbolic €2501 at auction, effectively cancelling debts).
