About this Venue
The Edinburgh Corn Exchange is a historic, Grade B listed building located in Edinburgh, Scotland, approximately 2.5 miles southwest of the city centre. Originally opened in 1910 as an agricultural hub, it was acquired by Marco's Leisure in 1992, refurbished, and reopened in 1999 as a versatile events and concert venue. It was rebranded as O2 Academy Edinburgh in 2021 after being acquired by Academy Music Group, but reverted to its original name in April 2025 while remaining under Academy Music Group ownership. The venue is known for its flexibility, offering multiple distinct spaces suitable for a wide range of events including live music concerts, festivals, exhibitions, conferences, banquets, weddings, and corporate functions. It boasts a main hall (The Exchange) and several smaller suites, providing natural light, private entrances, and unique character. The venue also features on-site leisure activities such as ten-pin bowling, mini football pitches, and a sports bar.

Sustainability
The Edinburgh Corn Exchange, as part of Live Nation, has a comprehensive sustainability charter focusing on eight priority areas: emissions and energy, resource use and waste (including plastic), water, food, public engagement, procurement, transport, and local impacts. The aim is for all owned and operated venues to be powered by 100% renewable energy and to operate to certified energy efficiency standards. They aim for zero waste to landfill and a 50% (or higher) material recovery rate by 2030, and committed to phasing out single-use plastics by 2021. They also measure greenhouse gas emissions to set science-based targets for a 50% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

Subvention & Funding Support
For large-scale or international events, organizers can access support through Convention Edinburgh, which is managed in-house by the City of Edinburgh Council. Local Events Open Fund 2026/27: This fund is specifically designed to support the longer-term sustainability of the creative sector. Priority: Preference is given to events held outside of the City Centre Ward, making the Corn Exchange (located in the Chesser area) a strong candidate for these grants. Application: Applications typically open early in the year for the 2026/27 cycle. Bidding Support: Convention Edinburgh provides an Advisory Group to assist venues with bids to attract major conferences, offering resources to grow the city's profile as a world-class business destination
