Conrad New York Downtown is committed to sustainability, holding LEED Gold certification. Initiatives include in-suite Rocean water filtration systems to eliminate single-use plastic bottles, smart lights that turn off after inactivity, and full-sized Byredo amenities to reduce waste. The hotel also implements energy-saving measures like fluctuating in-suite temperatures when no motion is detected, and dual flush toilets. They recycle Nespresso pods, removed plastic straws and stir sticks in 2019, and use glass for bottled water in banquet spaces. Plastic bottles were removed from the fitness center, replaced with refill stations. The hotel utilizes Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology for LED lighting, resulting in significant energy savings. An INNCOM energy management system is used in guestrooms. All F&B to-go containers are biodegradable, and compostable disposables are used for banquet events. Food waste is composted, and a quarter of all waste is recycled. Reusable non-plastic laundry bags are provided, and key cards are made with recycled paper. They also participate in soap recycling programs and have a rooftop produce garden.
