Sustainability
BCEC is EarthCheck Platinum certified, demonstrating 14 consecutive years of best practice in sustainability. Initiatives include an organic dehydrator to reduce food waste by up to 85%, a reusable cup scheme, a partnership with BlockTexx to recycle uniforms and textiles, and a partnership with the Reforest carbon offset program. The Centre's 2023 expansion features an energy-efficient design with a living green façade. Recent lighting transformations in the Plaza Ballroom and Great Hall have led to significant energy savings (66% and 75% respectively). BCEC integrates sustainability into all aspects of its business, from construction to procurement and food distribution, and uses green cleaning products.
