It is designed to host world-class conferences, conventions, trade shows, and corporate events, with a variety of adaptable spaces including exhibit halls, ballrooms, and meeting rooms. Sustainability
The BMO Centre's sustainability initiatives include optimizing energy performance, reducing water use (35-38% above LEED v4 baselines), managing on-site stormwater, planting drought-tolerant landscaping, and diverting 80-94% of construction and demolition waste from landfill. Operational practices feature three-stream waste stations, upcycling used cooking oil, converting fuel-powered equipment to electric, and utilizing LED and natural lighting. Food sustainability focuses on local and seasonal ingredient sourcing, ethical sourcing, organic and plant-based options, and food donation to local groups. The venue is accessible via Calgary's 100% wind-powered C-Train and is connected to North America's largest urban bike and pedestrian pathway network, with 16 acres of naturalized greenspace along the Elbow River.
